Richard Bunting

Richard Bunting was baptized 19 Apr 1681 in Pateley-Bridge, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of Richard Bunton and had a younger brother, Johns [1]. He was a linen weaver of Lowbishopside, a neighborhood of Pateley-Bridge.

Footnotes

[1] The IGI lists a Richard Bunting and Elizabeth Greenhill marrying 2 Jul 1709 either in Pateley-Bridge, Yorkshire, England or in nearby Ripon. I have checked the Pateley-Bridge bishop's transcripts and found no record of this marriage but I have not yet checked the Ripon records.
[2] I believe this name is Buntin. However, the fourth letter is formed so that it could be either a "t" or an "s". I compared the letter with other letters and still could not decide what letter it was. There is no Bunsin/Bunsen/Bunson family showing up anywhere else in the Pateley-Bridge records but there is a Benson family. However, I personally feel that the last name is Buntin because it is a Rebecca, our Rebecca would have been 18 years old in 1744, and the spelling is slightly closer to Buntin that Benson. However, more research is needed to see whether or not the Bensons had a daughter named Rebecca in the right time period to be marrying in 1744.
