[1] According to Virginia Carpenter Jansen, Johannes and Maria had their banns published 21 Mar 1608 in Amsterdam. She also states that Johannes was bookkeeper and shareholder for the West India Company and the son of Jan de Hooges and Catharina de Draijere of Mechelen, Belgium, that Maria was baptized 7 Feb 1576 in Antwerp, Belgium, the fourth of eight children born to Antoni Tijron and Catharina Daneels, and that Antoni and Catharina were married Jan 1574 in Antwerp and had a son, Johannes or Hans, baptized there 31 May 1572. I have not seen documentary proof of this but I am looking. Footnotes
