[1] Aert Dircksen and his wife Aricken are listed as the parents of Maria, Bruysten, Dirck, and Beert (Bertken) in a court record. Also listed in another court record are “Aetzert Dirxsen and his wife Belia”. If Aetzert and Alert are the same, Belia would be another wife. However, since one court record lists “the widow Arike Alart” purchasing a holm, or small island, in 1560, next to the land of Alerts’ heirs. This possibly means that Ariken survived Alert. Footnotes
