Gijsbert Goertzen and Maria Alarts

Gijsbert Goertzen owned land, mainly in Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands. He may have been the son of Goert Reyers and Jutta van Hoickelum. Gijsbert married Maria Alarts. Maria was the daughter of Alert Dircxsen and Aricken — and was born in Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands. Maria and her siblings were “brought up at their parents’ homestead.”

Gijsbert and Maria's children:

  1. Abraham Gijsberts, married 1) Marijeke Cornelis in Nov 1612 in Herwijnen, Gelderland, Netherlands and 2) Jenneke Theunisse.
  2. Alart Ghijsbertsen, married Metken Walravensdr., died (murdered) 1615.
  3. Heijman Guijsberts, married IJken Jans Kuijsten.
They may have had these daughters (found on the Herwijnen church membership lists):

The judge on behalf of the public prosecutor (ambtman) takes legal action against Alart Ghijsbertsen, for having during his life six times unlawfully resisted the legal seizure (of his property) by Dirck Roloffsen and Geritt van Bothoelen. The alderman give judgement against the defender, imposing a fine of six ‘double alderman’s guilders’ on him or his heirs.
