"...Herzog, Graf, Rohleder, Shafer, Urbach, Reinhardt, Reinwalt and
Schulz were also attacked on August 15, 1774, but suffered only slight
damages. It is estimated that over twelve hundred men, women and
children were taken prisoners by the Kirghiz. Some were brought to the
trading post at Cherburg and traded for merchandize...Anna Denning,
who was stolen from Herzog in 1768, was later returned to her
village."
