Johann Friedrich Meler was born in 1783 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia to Franz Michael Mehler and Margareta Ewald.
Friedrich married Maria Agnes Dreitz 7 February 1805 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia. Agnes was born in 1784.
Agnes' parents are not currently known but it is likely that she was the granddaughter of a Johannes Treutz/Dreitz who settled in the colony of Sewald with his wife Elisabeth (his second wife) and children. The most likely candidates to be Agnes’ father are Johannes’ sons by his first wife, Maria Elisabetha Lützyn: Johannes Jakob Dreitz and Heinrich Dreitz (who married Elisabeth Lang). Agnes is not found in Heinrich’s household in the 1798 census (when she was 14) nor in any of the village censuses at all. Johannes Jakob is not found in the census at all. It is possible that he had died by then or that he was missed somehow. So, the question is:
- Was Agnes the daughter of Johannes Jakob and her entire family was missed?
- Was she the orphan of Johannes Jakob and was missing in the household where she was living?
- Was she the daughter of Heinrich and was accidentally omitted from his household?
Friedrich died 27 December 1845 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia. Agnes apparently died before 1850, as she does not appear on the census that year.
Friedrich and Agnes’ children are:
