Michael Paulus was the son of Michael Paulus. Michael married Barbara Benner in January of 1618 at St. Martin’s Church, Orb (now Bad Orb), Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Hesse, Germany. Barbara was the daughter of Georg Benner. Michael and Barbara were Catholic.

Michael was a citizen of Orb and a saltmaker. Orb had several salt springs and extracting salt was a major industry there, which reached its peak in the 1600s and 1700s. The town is now a spa town where one can swim in a thermal brine bath and visit the historic salt works.

Barbara died 25 April 1630 in Orb, Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Hesse, Germany. Michael was buried 5 September 1660 in Orb, Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Hesse, Germany.
