Joseph Rekowski and Christina Nielsdr.

Joseph Rekowski was born about 1712 in Poznań, Wielkopolskie, Poland. At the time of his marriage, he was a musketeer in a company in Copenhagen, Kobenhavn, Denmark.

He appears in church records in military-related parishes in Copenhagen: his marriage record (Garnisons Sogn) and the baptismal record of one of his daughters (the Citadelskirken). Garnisons Sogn (meaning Garrison Parish) served a congregation of Danish and German military personnel while the Citadelskirken was located in the Kastellet, a fortress in Copenhagen.

Joseph married Christina Nielsdr. 12 February 1744 at Garnisons Sogn, Copenhagen, Kobenhavn, Denmark. Christina was born in Sweden. It is not entirely certain if Christina was the unidentified wife of Joseph Rekowski in the First Settlers List. If she was, she would have been born about 1719. Her name is a patronym (Niels Tochter in German = Nilsdotter in Swedish = Niels' daughter in English), as was common in Scandinavia at that time, so her father's given name would have been Nils. It is not known how Christina went from Sweden to Denmark. However, since she married a soldier, it is possible that her father was also a soldier.

Joseph, his wife (presumably Christina), and several of their children settled at Kamenka, Saratov, Russia 6 July 1765. Joseph and Christina had apparently died before the 1775 census. Their son, Johann, took over Joseph's farm at Kamenka.

Joseph and Christina’s children are:

1 Johann Rekowski, born about 1744 in Copenhagen, Kobenhavn, Denmark, married Maria Magdalena --, settled in Kamenka, Saratov, Russia 6 Jul 1765, a shoemaker, died by 1798.

Wife: Maria Magdalena --, b. abt. 1747.

2 Barbara Rekowski, born about 1749.

3 Maria Magdalena Rekowski, born about 1754, baptized 9 Jan 1757 at the Citadelskirken, Copenhagen, Kobenhavn, Denmark, married Wilhelm Gertje, living in Rothammel, Saratov, Russia in 1798.

Husband: Wilhelm Gertje, b. abt. 1734.

4 Joseph Rekowski, born about 1758, married Sophia Hoffmann, died 1791-93.

Wife: Sophia Hoffmann, b. abt. 1765 to Johannes Hoffmann and Dorothea Reichert, m. 2) Mattias Frey, living in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia in 1798 with her second husband and children by both her husbands.
