John Smith and Margaret --
John Smith ("the Younger," as he had an older brother named John) was born sometime around 1475 to William Smith and Katherine Brown. John married Margaret --. Margaret was left a violet gown and violet kirtle by her mother-in-law Katherine (with a cart, cart harness, and plow harness to John and a cow each to their children William and Katherine). His will was made 22 December 1533 and proved 12 April 1534. He was a resident of Erwarton, Suffolk, England. He was buried in the church at Stratford St. Mary, Suffolk, England, according to the 1586 will of his grandson, William Smithe, gentleman, of Stratford St. Mary.
John and Margaret’s children are:
- Katherine Smith, mentioned in her grandmother Katherine (Brown) Smith's 1511 will but not her father's will, probably died young.
- William Smith, mentioned in his grandmother Katherine (Brown) Smith's 1511 will but not his father's will, probably died young.
- John Smith, mentioned in his father's will, married Anne --, will made 16 Jun 1542 and proved 10 Oct 1542.
