Elijah Swain and Susanna Cathcart
Elijah Swain was the son of John Swain and Mary Swett.
Elijah married Susanna Cathcart 23 Jul 1735 in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Susanna was the daughter of Gershom (or Robert) Cathcart and Phebe Coleman.
The Swains may have been the ones shown on the Barrington, Shelburne, Nova Scotia census in 1770. Elijah died 26th 7 mo 1789 in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Susanna died 22nd 8 mo 1790 in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
Elijah and Susanna's children are:

- Mary Swain, married Simeon Bunker 27 Jan 1766 in Nantucket, Massachusetts, went “down east” (Maine).

- Phebe Swain, married Peter Ripley.
- Elijah Swain, never married, listed as “a poor one” in the Nantucket Vital Records.
