Peter Eckstein was the son of Johann Leonhard Eckstein and Anna Schienen, probably christened 30 August 1683 in Bremm, Rheinland Palatinate, Germany.

Peter married Anna Elisabetha Wottsack 7 June 1706 in Niederberg, Rheinland Palatinate, Germany. Dieter Eckstein states that she was born in 1683 in Bruch, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Rheinland-Palatinate, Germany to Johann Watsack and Anna Maria Kesseler and cites "Bistumsarchiv: Geburtsurkunde im KB Trier St. Gangolf" ("Diocese Archives: Birth certificate in Kirchenbuch Trier St. Gangolf") in his notes on Anna Elisabetha.

Im Kirchenbuch 1 von Niederburg wird keine Geburt eines Eckstein erwähnt. Lediglich die Eheschließung von Peter Eckstein und Anna Elisabeth Wottsackin ist dort für 1706 beurkundet (Q: Bistumsarchiv Trier am 11.2.2015)"
Translation: Urbar is specified in the FB Bruttig Fankel (#0479) as a place of birth. Perhaps and also likely: Urbar near Koblenz
In the church book 1 of Niederburg is mentioned no birth of a Eckstein. Only the marriage of Peter Eckstein and Anna Elisabeth Wottsackin is registered for 1706 there (Q: archives of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trier on the 11.2.2015)
