Nikolaus Herrmann and Anna Margaretha Walter

Citing this biography: Boyd, Michelle, "Nikolaus Herrmann and Anna Margaretha Walter," article, Olive and Eliza, last accessed [current date]."

Nikolaus Herrmann was born about 1747 in Alzey, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany and is said to have been the son of widow Katharina (--) Herrmann. Nikolaus is listed with his mother living in his household in 1798. Curiously, however, she is listed as being 59 and he is listed as being 47, making her only 12 when Nikolaus was born. While possible, it's very unusual and it seems more likely that there was an error in the record.

Nikolaus married first Katharina -- (b. abt. 1748). Nikolaus and his wife Katharina settled in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia 14 May 1767.

Nikolaus married second Anna Margaretha Walter. Anna Margaretha was born about 1757 in Schlierbach, Hesse, Germany to Heinrich Walter and Julianna --. A search for a Margaretha Walter in the First Settlers List revealed that only the daughter of Heinrich and Julianna was of the right name and age to be the wife of Nikolaus Herrmann. The Herrmanns settled in Göbel, Saratov, Russia 20 Aug 1767.

Nikolaus died in 1818.

Nikolaus and Anna Margaretha’s children are:

1 Johann Georg Herrmann, born about 1779 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, married 1) Maria Francisca Breit and 2) Elisabetha Schmittlein, died in 1850.

Wife 1: Maria Francisca Breit.

Wife 2: Elisabetha Schmittlein, b. abt. 1785.

2 Jakob Herrmann, born about 1781 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia.

3 Barbara Herrmann, born about 1783 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, married Johannes Müller 7 Feb 1805 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, died sometime between 1850 and 1857.

Husband: Johannes Müller, b. abt. 1782 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia to Johann Georg Müller and Katharina Stenger, d. 1852.

4 Katharina Herrmann, born about 1785 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia.

5 Johan Herrmann, born about 1790 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, married Catharina Becher 18 Nov 1807 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, moved to Mariental, Saratov, Russia in 1825.

Wife: Catharina Becher, m. 1) Johan Biehn, son of Johannes Biehn and Katharina Säger.

6 Margaretha Herrmann, born about 1791 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia.

7 Franz Herrmann, born about 1792 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia, married Elisabetha Lambrecht.

Wife: Elisabetha Lambrecht, b. abt. 1797.

8 Anna Maria Herrmann, born about 1795 in Leichtling, Saratov, Russia.
