Andreas Jeckel and Katharina Köhler

Andreas Jeckel was born in about 1773, probably in Graf, Samara, Russia, to Friedrich Jäkel and Maria Margaretha Wulff.

Andreas married Katharina Köhler. Katherina was born about 1776 in Chasselois, Saratov, Russia, almost certainly to Peter Köhler and Elisabeth --. The colony of Chasselois was destroyed by the Kirghiz (nomadic tribesmen who raided the colony) in 1785 and the survivors, including Katherina and her half-siblings Michael and Maria Hein, moved to other colonies.

In 1798, Andreas and Katharina were listed in the household of his father Friedrich in Graf. However, there is a note next to Friedrich that "this family lost its livestock to plague and is currently located in Stahl am Karaman and Schwed where they are herding cattle for the inhabitants there; they have been there since the beginning of this year." It is not entirely clear if Andreas was also hiring out in these other colonies.

Andreas died 1822 in Graf, Samara, Russia.

Andreas and Katharina's children are:

  1. Philipp Heckel, born about 1800 in Graf, Samara, Russia, married 1) -- -- and 2) Elisabeth -- (b. abt. 1801) before 1822.
  2. Anton Heckel, born about 1803 in Graf, Samara, Russia, died 1824 in Graf, Samara, Russia.
  3. Anna Elisabetha Eckel, born in 18 March 1809 in Graf, Samara, Russia, married Johannes Knoll (b. abt. 1806 in Herzog, Samara, Russia to Franz Knoll and Elisabeta Hochweis), lived in Herzog, Samara, Russia.
  4. Konrad Heckel, born in about 1810 in Graf, Samara, Russia, died 1818 in Graf, Samara, Russia.

Church Records
"He [Johann Adam Knoll] was found directly in 1832, birth metric is attached. He was born on October, 22nd by Johannes Knoll and Elisabetha Jegel. Godparents were Johannes Adam Sander and Elisabetha Kuhn.

Herzog was in same parish with Graf, so prof. Pleve decided to look for Elisabetha Jegel/Jäckel/Eckel in other colonies of same parish. He found her birth record in 1809. Attached. She was born on 18th of March and baptized on the next day. Parents were Andreas Jeckel and Katharina Koller? Anyway, this couple is listed in 1798 Graf census in household Gf05, and they have names Andreas Jäkel and Katharina Kohlner. About name Anna: in this parish only first names are given for both male and female. Second name is the name of godfather for males and godmother for females. Godparents were Adam and Elisabeth, which makes Anna Elisabeth :)"
