He was an "Edelknecht (Knappe von den Wappen)" (ministerial (squire of the coat of arms), "landgräfl. Diener" (servant to the landgrave), "erzb.-mainzischer Amtmann" (bailiff to the Archbishop of Mainz) in Battenberg, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany, and "langr. Burgmann" (castellan to the landgrave) in Frankenberg, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany, and Inhaber (owner) of Schloss Wolkersdorf (in Bottendorf, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany). Siegfried married first Else -- (marriage was probably childless) and second Gertrud von Lehrbach before 1 August 1379. Gertrud also appears as Gele or Gela for short. She was born about 1345 and was the widow of Ludwig Waldvogel (of Ziegenhain, Altenkirchen-Flammersfeld, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, an Edelknecht). He was called "der Alte" (the Old) in 1402 and "der Älteste" (the eldest).

Adolf was an "Edelknecht (Knappe, Junker)" (ministerial (squire, lesser noble), Burgmann (castellan) in Biedenkopf, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Hesse, Germany, and co-heir to the Scharre Hofherr in Berghofen. He was called "der Alte" (the Old) in 1365. He died before 20 January 1376.

  1. Heinrich I Friling, born about 1210, a Schöffe in Fritzlar, Schwalm-Eder, Hesse, Germany, moved to and married in Frankenberg. The Dörsam Ahnentafel states, "The house that Heinrich built there [in Frankenberg] when he moved was on the other side of the castle in a dominant position on the eastern front of today's Obermarkt and thus also marks the special role and position of its builder in the founding of the city."
    Heinrich's mother-in-law was called "Frau Aba" and she may possibly have been the wife of the Schultheiß, Rippert.
