Benjamin Metcalf was born 12 March 1704/5 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut to Ebenezer Metcalf and Hannah Abell. Benjamin married Sarah Abell 26 October 1726 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut. Sarah was born 2 March 1704 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut to John Abell and Rebeckah Sluman.

Benjamin died 10 October 1777 in Connecticut and Sarah died 27 April 1781 in Connecticut. Benjamin’s will was dated 23 May 1777 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut and proved 10November 1777. His son Benjamin had been made the executor but he died only a couple of weeks after the father’s death. Both were buried in Johnson Cemetery, Bozrah, New London, Connecticut.

Zebulon Metcalf, born 11 Jul 1729 in Bozrah, New London, Connecticut, married Lydia Bourn 24 Oct 1754 in Bozrah or Lebanon, New London, Connecticut, was left forty pounds in his father’s will (along with one-fourth part of the remainder of the estate), lived in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut in 1790 and in Otsego, Otsego, New York in 1800. According to The Abell Family in America, Zebulon married 2) Mary Abell but I have no primary evidence of this yet.

Wife 1: Lydia Bourn, b. 27 Sep 1734 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut to Thomas and Deborah Bourn, d. 30 Jul 1779 in Connecticut, bur. in Goshen Cemetery, Lebanon, New London, Connecticut, epitaph reads “Reader Remember you must Die, it may be as Sudeen as I”.

Possible wife 2: Mary Abell, b. 24 Feb 1736 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut to Daniel and Sarah Abell, m. 1st Jared Clark 12 Dec 1754 in Bozrah, d. 25 Dec 1813; of her character, was called “a professor of religion” who “adorned the doctrine which she believed,” bur. in Drake Cemetery, Cooperstown, Otsego, New York.
 
3 Abel Metcalf, born about 1733, married Abigail Thorpe 12 Aug 1755 in Bozrah or Lebanon, New London, Connecticut, was mentioned in his father’s will as having “Received a Valuable Portion from his Grandfather Metcalf” and was given his father’s great Bible (along with one-fourth part of the remainder of the estate), died 9 Jun 1790 in Connecticut, buried in Goshen Cemetery, Lebanon, New London, Connecticut.

He served as physician in Captain Walter Hyde's company, 1776.
Dr. Andrew Metcalf's name appears in a list of Militia Regiments, 1776 at the Camp near King's Bridge, Sept. 21st., 1776, in a travel Roll of Capt. Walter Hyde's Company, in Colonel Erastus Woolcot's Regiment of Militia - distance traveled from Lebanon (Conn.) to New York - 150 miles credited to Dr. Andrew Metcalf.
